DMT GmbH & Co. KG can conduct the following tests at the Fire Testing Facilities in Dortmund and Lathen. Tested here are materials and components intended for use on marine vessels. The work is conducted in accordance with the International Maritime Organization IMO FTP Code, Resolution MSC.61 (67) (Annex 1).
- Non-combustibility testing as per IMO FTP Code, Part 1 [IMO Resolution A.799 (19)], ISO 1182
- Smoke density and toxicity as per IMO FTP Code, Part 2 [IMO Resolution A.799 (19)], ISO 5659-2
- Examination of horizontal and vertical separation structures as per IMO FTPC, Part 3 [IMO Resolution A.754 (18)]
- Testing fire door control systems
- Flammability of surfaces, flame propagation (Part 5), Resolution A.653 (16)
- Primary deck coverings (Part 6), Resolution A.687 (17)
- Vertically supported textiles and films (vertical) (Part 7), Resolution A.471 (XII), amended by Resolution A.563 (14)

- Bedding components as per IMO FTP Code, Part 9 [IMO-Resolution A.688 (17)]
The International Maritime Organization developed fire safety regulations for international commercial shipping within the framework of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). In July of 1998 the IMO introduced the International Code for Application of Fire Test Procedures (FTP Code). It contains a compilation of fire testing procedures used to examine the fire protection properties of materials and components used on ships.
The FTP Code makes use of fire testing techniques developed by the International Standards Organization ISO. The FTP Code covers the fields of non-combustibility, fire resistance, flammability, flame propagation, smoke development and smoke toxicity of components and materials along with special products such as textiles, upholstery and beds. The fire tests are summarized in the following table.
