Determining fire and explosion parameters
Do the processes in your company involve handling flammable substances in the form of gases, vapors, fogs or dust? Are you not in a position to assess the fire and explosion properties of these substances? Might these flammable substances form an explosive mixture with the ambient air? We can assist you in evaluating the prevailing explosion hazard and, working with selected laboratories, determine the explosion prevention parameters for the substances you use. Such studies could let you dispense with costly investments in fire and explosion prevention measures. At your request we can determine whether the substances in question are in fact explosive at all and can quantify the maximum effects of an explosion. It might be found that you have no explosion exposure at all or that explosion protection engineering will have to meet far less stringent demands. On the other hand, a careful study of the substances involved gives you assurance as to whether the measures you have implemented to date are sufficient.
In addition, we can conduct real-time measurements at work sites while operations are in progress – to determine dust concentrations in your processes and overall carbon quantities, for instance. This enables conclusive demarcation of areas subject to explosion hazard, and these are potentially less extensive than the areas determined through overly cautious or generalized estimates.
