    Evaluation of Geological Conditions

To optimally plan a mine and determine the proper measures for preventing rock bursts it is critically important to have accurate information of the geological conditions.

In this respect DMT has developed for the geological-geotechnical evaluation of rock layers in mining and tunnelling a drill core investigation and interpretation method – the SRD programme (Solid-Rock-Dia).

This programme can be applied for a range of applications, not only for the prevention of rock bursts, but also for answering questions revolving around support techniques.

    • Evaluation of rock burst characteristics of coal (testing of the coal properties applying a 6,000kN high pressure press)
    • Assessment of the surrounding rock with regard to the risk of rock bursts (investigations of the surrounding rock using the SRD programme; evaluation of the rock layers referring to degree of separation, compactness and deformation)
    • Evaluation of the geology on site (rock evaluation related to specific problems; special geological investigations and evaluation of deposits)

Greater planning safety is achieved through the geological-geotechnical evaluation of the rock layers.
