Managing Bodies of Water
In our Hydrogeology and Water Management department we continue the work of the “Water Resources Management Office” founded in 1921 for the German hard coal mining industry. We look into the effects that mine water drainage, facilities on the surface, tailings and waste dump sites exert on the amount and quality of groundwater and surface water, starting from the planning stage and continuing right up to optimising routine operations.
Our experience is used also by a number of mining companies, for large-scale underground construction projects, and for other generalised observations of local interactions between groundwater and surface waters. Moreover, we support authorities and water management boards in fulfilling the specifications of the EU Framework Directive for Water.
Our numerical models link mine water and groundwater with bodies of water on the surface and allow forecasting and simulations of proposed projects so as to be able to control quantities and qualities.
We can carry out either specific parts of a contract or the entire job, according to your requirements:
- Planning and permit applications
- Water rights applications
- Plant construction and operation
- Monitoring and documenting evidence
- Documentation and public relations
