Coke quality depends to a large extent on the coking characteristics of the coal blends.

Based on international standards we determine not only coaking coal properties but also the resulting coke quality. In this way we support coke plants in their permanent quality monitoring of the coal they use and the coke they produce, and support smelting works above all in the quality control of the coke they buy.

Furthermore we optimise, in close cooperation with the iron and steel industry, the methods for assessing the coke quality. Joint research forms the basis for improving existing and developing new coke quality tests for realistically simulating the behaviour of coke in blast furnaces.
