Harmful substances in buildings – such as asbestos and wood preservatives – pose a potential hazard to the health of people using a building. According to regulations (building codes in the German states), no hazards may emanate from buildings or other structures (Section 3, BauO NRW – Building Regulations of the State of North-Rhine Westphalia). This means that the building’s owner is obliged to remove, within a reasonable period of time, any harmful substances present in a building.

We undertake detailed and comprehensive inspections to detect and document the presence of any harmful substances. This may be done while the building is in use or in preparation for rehabilitation. Using that survey as a basis we prepare a specific abatement concept and compile the specifications used as the basis for bidding on the work to be carried out. DMT also monitors and documents the remediation work in its capacity as a technical expert.
