Assessment of Cost Risks
Investments are generally based on exhaustive assessments of cost effectiveness. The costs of preparing the land are a decisive factor especially when redeveloping brownfields. If there has been no thorough expert assessment of the land regarding cost-inflating factors, then reliable planning and economical implementation will hardly be possible. Should soil pollution be present or other hindrances resulting from previous industrial land use or restrictions stemming from old mines, then costs can escalate significantly.
By preparing expert assessments of the cost risks – and even by shouldering the risk in certain individual cases – DMT lends confidence to investment decisions when developing brownfields.
