DMT PlugScan

DMT PlugScan is a measuring system which provides accurate documentation acquired by high-resolution image libraries.

System configuration: Grain size distribution analysis of core plugs, polished sections and mining samples. The objective of image processing is to visually enhance or statistically evaluate particle parameters of core plugs, polished sections and digital core images. A processed digital image data can be analyzed in numerous ways and the results can be:

• Differentiation of mineral phases
• Grain size distribution (sieve curve)
• Porosity analysis (percentage, size distribution)

The online mineral (particle) identification (lithofacies analysis) is based on the following major parameters:

• Grain count and volumes
• Grain area
• Perimeter
• Grain sphericity
• Roundness (circularity, convexity, ellipticity, rectangularity)
• Major/mean/minor and average diameter and size
• Sorting
• Segregation
• VolJc and VolEl and volumetric density
