Minimising risk for and reducing impact of fire and explosion hazard in underground coal mining.

MINFIREX research work will focus on minimising the risk for the development of fires and explosions and minimizing the consequences of fires and explosions if occurred anyhow. In particular the main objectives of the project work will be:

• Developing strategies to prevent fires and explosions
• Developing innovative detection measures for fires and other dangerous atmospheres
• Developing fire fighting methods for hidden fires especially
• Developing an innovative active extinguishing system ensuring effective protection against propagation of fires or explosions
